Skin Design Tips

If you work with Adobe Photoshop® you can download this PSD "toolbar"
layer to use as a template. If you have problems downloading this file,
right-click on the link and select "Save Target As."

Remember the following when making skins:
Make your skins bright The brighter the better!
People still want to be able to use their browser buttons.

Right Justify images Since most of the browser buttons
are on the left, you should place images, on the right side of your skin.

Consider the address bar Don't forget that most users will
see a white strip (the address bar) along the middle of the skin.

Please note: Hotbar will not publish any skins that contain:
visually dark images, offensive content, or copyrighted material.

Try your skins before sending them to Hotbar!
To see your skin on your own browser:
Copy your BMP image file to the appropriate folder in your hard drive*
(be sure to put a copy and not the original file).
Click the "Skins" button and choose "My Private Collection".
Find your Skin in this collection. Click to see it on your browser.
Please note: If you wish to send your skin, it should be first uploaded to Hotbar.com. Please read Sending the Skins to Hotbar.com.

* following are the folders where you should put your skin files in order
