I encountered technical issues while installing Hotbar
- I received a message that states "You do not have enough permission to install Hotbar"
Hotbar needs to register itself on your computer in order to operate properly. Some
network administrators deny users the permissions to do so and Hotbar can not
complete it's installation. Contact your systems administrator with the following
information:
Hotbar needs to register itself in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
registry hive. Hotbar needs access to the following keys in the
registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Hotbar
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet explorer
For additional assistance contact Hotbar Support.
- I received a personal firewall alert that states "HbInst/HbSrv wants to connect to Hotbar"
In order for Hotbar to install and work properly, the files
HbInst.exe and HbSrv must have port 80 (HTTP) access to the
Hotbar servers. (64.61.30.128-64.61.30.255). When your firewall
pops up this dialog box, click the option that allows communication
- I would like to contact Hotbar Support
How long will it take to download a skin, and how will it affect my computer?
A skin takes, at most, 10 seconds to upload to your computer, and is intended only to cosmetically enhance your browsing experience. Your computer is not at all affected, and you can continue to use it as usual.
How do I control and manage my skin collection?
You can use the links under your 'Hotbar.com' button to shuffle between
the skins you have already downloaded. Or you can use the skin control panel on the upper right-hand side of
the Hotbar Website. The panel contains the following options:
Last Skin
-Back to the previous skin viewed (taken from your Private Collection).
Clear Skin
-Removes the current skin from your browser.
Next Skin
-Forward to the next skin in your Private Collection.
My Private Collection
-The collection of skins you've viewed up until now.
How do I change skins offline?
If you are using Explorer 5.0 or above please follow these steps:
1. Go to the "My private collection" page at: www.hotbar.com/site/local.htm
2. Choose "Add to favorites..." from the Favorites drop down menu.
3. Check the "Make available offline" box and click OK.
Now you can change your skins offline by going to Hotbar's "My private collection" page.
Note: When you add or remove skins from your private collection the page will not update automatically. You must occasionally synchronize your bookmark or customize the auto synchronize option.
Currently, if you are using Explorer 4, you can only change skins while online.
How do I resize Hotbar's toolbar and adjust the browser's toolbars?
To enable Hotbar toolbar resizing, visit the Edit page, check the box next to "Enable bar resizing" and click the submit button. Close all browser windows and re-open a new one to finish.
In order to adjust your browser's toolbars:
1. Leave only one Explorer window open.
2. Rearrange your bars as you want them to be: click and drag the vertical lines on the far-left of your browser. This will allow you to rearrange all of your toolbars, both Hotbar and Explorer. As well, icons can be added and removed from Explorer by right clicking with your mouse on any specific icon; choose the "customize" option.
3. Close the Explorer window and continue working normally.
Note that if you are using IE4 you must put the Hotbar toolbar on a row of its own.
